Notes on keyboards

In some keyboards, especially in laptops that have fewer keys, pressing an F key as  F2  requires a combination of keys usually holding down one labeled  'Fn'  that usually is placed a the left/bottom of the keyboard.  
So if you are instructed to press some F key and get no response look if there's some  'fn'  key that you should hold down.
